Legends
carry truth where unbelief
Cannot
harm;
There
is no doubting of a tale
That
bears witness
By
its own inner mark;
Its
inner strength can be relied upon
To
explain reality
And
by resisting it never weaken it;
He
who would parry ancient legend
To
suit himself
Sets
himself a god against the light
Sent
only to lighten him and set him free.
