What could I
write that others would like to read
What piece of
all I could reach would delight
Had I any
treasure there where another had a need
What had I of
all my crazy store that I might share?
What could live
upon the page of an overflowing possession
What sieve
within a sheet could catch and hold the light?
Love’s rendering in redemptive secret silver all my passion
Turned inside
out and upside down all I wanted was to give
But how to spin my hardest treasures round to be a joy?
Deep this desire
and thought which spurs me on each day
Yet too sure of
love to lay the trail, I could make no other ploy
Than to simply
let it out, to set about its own wide course
Too certain
found in a pinned jewelled pearl I could not be
Too plain the
unravelling and the thing will lose its shine
Truth’s centered form turning to a slant the knowledge key
And a gem of
patterned words my gift upon the page
