A Book is like a Starry Sky

A book is like a starry sky . . .
   a studded canvas
   a secret blended heaven
To raise the mind
   toward a distant treasure
Displayed against a background
  deep or black:
The unknown scenic content
   of what lies beyond

Opening to a diamond cluster
   from its wide expanse
Pinpoint lighted vision
   from lucid viewing points
Light out of darkness
   emerging in many forms
Leading the mind it challenges
   to see beyond itself
Yet know its capacity
still unfathomable by these tiny fires

(Poetry/ Vol. 1.) The Unknown Language . . . from THE RAGGED WRITINGS OF EVERLAND . . .

The Unknown Language

If found twice alive by faith in love alone
And my own self my own enemy
Then was my dragon slain
Of one stone in one single stroke---
And taking up of serpents with no hurt

If found twice freed by faith in love alone
By drinking the deadly thing alone
And myself, my own enemy
There was inner health and wellness
The drink which killed my dragon: Life

If found twice alive by first finding I was fallen
Made my own enemy I am my loving friend
Then were my soiled garments sold for a sword
My hoarded goodness, my filthy rags the price
A sword of discerning for deceitful clothing

In Everland’s fire the Life found twice alive
New minds and hearts breathing only love
There was the unknown language spoken
A deciphering of Life with new lips
The gifted sequence bound in unveiling lines

The stars cannot be seen where I can see
Out of darkness came the casting up
There the pulling of truth from offence
Light on old spoiling things and they fled
I break and my shadows flee away

Seeing in light the stars which my eyes cannot see
And the flying through in the undoing of me
I see what I cannot see and truth made free is spoken
There this liveliness of speech in a clay chalice
And a pouring out of knowledge in a rain of stars

Turn, my beloved, my bruised heart is broken
Let me fall upon the mountains of spices

Tortoiseshell Callings

Tortoiseshell callings in merging marvels
Multicoloured hard bits in widening wonders
Glimpses in leadlights, gleanings of seemings
Pickled licked portions in bright coloured gardens

Secrets in safety messaged in silence
A thousand bits hid and revolving around me
Glimpses in stained glass, gleanings of stardust
Pieced light preservings in tight held absorbtions

Seeings in all things whirling in wildness
Knowings from everything edging about me
Glimpses in patterns, gleanings of wisdom
Wide whispered tellings in light gifted learnings

                                    *
All about me stars shine in simple things
Their dust mentors deep within my marvelling
There I learn of everything, everything to know
And all my mixed colours in secrets there meld as one

The Seeing Blind

They waited long upon the silent lambs of peace
Captured the possession and the blind ones’ purse
Hidden but linked to an heir and by fairest fields pursued
They wandered ever onward in sightless passion-ed flight

Comings of walls and their tearing down to dust
Opened the mysteries which from countless ages followed
Yet still they waited not carried by love’s vicarious stripes
All gone astray in deceitful paths each coveting heart

Seeing not the part that with the fallen, lambs found their rest
Amongst the transgressors they knew them not
Nor understood the perfect glory of their disgrace
Un-esteemed of them that thought they knew his name

Cleavings of a stony heart and clouds depart
From what was lost and wasted love was raised to fill
The gap and rushed up from a buried deep between the
Ranks and fortresses of all age-beleaguered thought

Followed by a foolish few the broken blind were linked
For them love’s patterned words that let the light shine in
Pierced through they shone for those that went beneath
And torn the blind ones’ purse by perfect mystery known

None but the seeing blind would think wealth lay in loss
And bliss could be in being turned the other way around
That the purse contained the means of being back to front
Blind-silent lambs of peace all those made perfect from it

Out from the darkest depths they then rapidly appeared
Set against a sky of night as newborn stars
No more a disfiguring cup of trembling in their hand
Theirs now the day and ‘the-thought-they-saw’ the night

Roles reversed the mighty from their thrones removed
Crowds roared as the freed broken-open cheered
And travelling faster than the speed of light
Spun the world about as inner life turned inside out

And the dark was light wherever the world was new

A Ring of Love

He has taken me with a snare, a ring of love
And broken me when I fell stumbling
He has taken me with a fish trap
A tangled web of passion
And peeled me when I surrendered

He has opened me with sunlight, and filled every gap
He has seen me with moonlight, and tipped me out

He has chosen me with a circlet, a ring-knife of swiftlight
And cut me in twain, torn down all my walls
He has chosen me in the furnace of affliction
And set me amongst the fiery stars
Not any hurt can harm me, nor any terror shake me

With their silent speech with the circle of their sound
He has married me to the Songs of Wales
Made of ever-living roads, I am
Yet, before ever they were, the rising wells

With the lucent shore with the amaranthine rocks
He has married me to the Tidal Sea
Made of mortal flesh, I am
Yet of Spirit overawed and overflowed
