I never thought for a moment that I would
write so many poems about BOOKS! …And I have only just begun!
There’ll be 30 poems which begin with the
phrase: ‘A book is like . . .’ and I have posted 18 of them to date…making
a total of 12 more to come!! I am looking forward to designing them into bookmarks
to give away; scattering them in public places, such as secondhand bookshops and
libraries.
Eventually these poems will form part of a new
book: ‘A BOOK IS LIKE A SACRED ISLE.’ The
other 20 poems included will also revolve around this theme of ‘books;’ and there
will be a number of essays and prose pieces on the subject, also.
In my mind's eye, I see it fully illustrated with beautiful pictures, drawings and paintings and photographs...an appreciation of literature...with its aim the celebrating, promoting and encouraging of the love of books and reading.
To live as a ‘coffee table’ book, perhaps; to inspire the household to pick up a book…and spend the evening reading, instead of watching!
